Addressing the Skills Gap in Business
C&W Chamber Training (CWCT) recently exhibited at the Business and Trade Expo in Stoneleigh where over 200 exhibitors and 350 businesses attended.
The team from CWCT conducted a survey of the businesses attending the event and unveiled that a large proportion of the businesses do not have a structured approach to management development in their business.
The survey also revealed that over half of the businesses surveyed had a distinct skills gap within their workforce. Businesses are also suffering from insufficient training as well as lack of funding for growth and expansion. In addition, there is a general need for a higher number of specialist trained staff.
A significant number of the delegates questioned were also looking to recruit apprentices within their business or have already successfully done so.
Specialists from CWCT are reminding businesses of how Coventry & Warwickshire Skills 4 Growth can help to support SME’s and improve skills amongst their workforce. The funding is eligible for Small to Medium sized Businesses (SME’s under 250 staff) in Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering and Service Sector Industries including Health & Social Care based in Coventry & Warwickshire.
