Summer School Success

Each Year Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce Training offers a Summer School programme over a four-week period in subject areas such as Accountancy, Business Administration, Early Years Care and Hairdressing. The Summer School programmes offer a valuable insight into the world of work and help young people identify their strengths, transferable skills and areas of interest.

Participating in a Summer School can help individuals recognise their transferable skills that can be applied in the workplace. Skills such as communication, time management, organisation and written English skills, that are valuable in any job setting. The programme offers an excellent opportunity to build confidence and life skills, which can be beneficial in personal and professional life.

Joseph Papp, a participant in this year’s Accountancy Summer School, has been offered a permanent position at Walker Thompson Accountants Ltd. As a recent school leaver awaiting his A-Level results, Joseph has been eager to enter the accountancy field and has been working with Chamber to secure employment. Joseph says:

“I decided to attend the Accountancy Summer School at Chamber Training to help me learn the basic accounting principles such as book-keeping and employability skills such as interview techniques and communication skills.”

“The team at Chamber Training have been very helpful in the early stages of finding me an apprenticeship and have supported me to achieve getting a permanent job position at Walker Thompson. I am extremely excited to start my career and am looking forward to attending college one day a week!”

“My goal is to become a Chartered Accountant and Chamber Training have helped kick start my career with an apprenticeship. My family have a history of working in the accounting sector and so therefore I am extremely happy to start working in this field.”
