Sumaya's Story in Accountancy
Sumaya Miah began an accountancy apprenticeship at McGlone Wardzynski in 2020, after finishing her A Levels. Sumaya decided to pursue an apprenticeship rather than go to university, after discovering the amazing benefits apprenticeships offer with the combination of invaluable work experience gained alongside studying for industry recognised qualifications.
Having rapidly progressed through the foundation level, Sumaya continued her career journey through an advanced accountancy apprenticeship at level 3 in partnership with McGlone Wardzynski and Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce Training, who have provided great support and guidance to ensure Sumaya achieves her goals.
Apprenticeships are a great way to pursue a career in accountancy, as Sumaya exemplifies through the range of experience, skills and knowledge she has acquired. Realising the advantages of gaining practical work experience as well as career building qualifications, she has established a rewarding career path, developed in confidence and become a valuable member of the team.
According to Sumaya: "I would recommend doing an apprenticeship in the accounting field. Apprenticeships are extremely beneficial as you gain experience whilst still learning. My advice to individuals considering an apprenticeship, would be to explore the career pathways apprenticeships offer and as long as you apply yourself, set yourself goals and targets, you will reap the rewards of a great job.”
In terms of progression, Sumaya's confidence has rocketed since starting an apprenticeship with McGlone Wardzynski Ltd and Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce Training. Her technical skills have grown in strength, as well as her ability to work as a team, communicate well and play a key role in the success of the business.
