Armstrong's Accountancy - Supporting Apprentices
As one of the leading providers of apprenticeships and business-to-business training courses, Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber Training (CWCCT) has visited the award-winning chartered accountancy firm, Armstrong’s Chartered Accountants, to speak to a couple of our current apprentices. Luke and Liam are currently studying towards their level 2 accountancy qualification to build the foundations of their understanding to progress further in accountancy.
Commenting on his experience, Luke says: “By choosing the apprenticeship route over university, I have gained invaluable experience in my chosen profession. The structured on-the-job training provided by Chamber Training, combined with my employment at the prestigious firm Armstrong's, has been very rewarding. This path has allowed me to build a professional career that I am extremely proud of. I would highly recommend it to anyone uncertain about their options after finishing school.”
Liam says: “The apprenticeship programme has been really beneficial in terms of developing my confidence and understanding in accountancy. My maths tutor advised me to consider an apprenticeship in accountancy as I have a strong ability at maths. I am so glad I went for an apprenticeship, rather than going to university, as I am getting workplace experience as well as gaining a qualification.”
Sarah Van Ristell, Director at Armstrong’s added: “We have an established team of qualified accountants and developing apprentices which creates a talent pipeline.
“The Directors at Armstrong’s formed a close working relationship with Chamber Training a number of years ago and we have apprentices at various stages of development from level two through to professional study. Our training manager at Chamber Training, Nicky Cheshire, understands our business and how we operate, which means that we are matched with the right people.”
Nicky Cheshire, Training Manager at Chamber Training, added: “It is always a pleasure to see employers supporting apprenticeships to help individuals succeed in their chosen roles. “
“An accountancy apprenticeship is an opportunity to attract fresh new talent to the business. So, if you are looking build your team or to upskill your existing staff to a senior accountant, there is no better time to enrol them onto an apprenticeship as well as get them AAT qualified.”
